Compliance Date or End of Transition Period – Key Information for Companies

The upcoming compliance date of 1 January 2024 for poison centre notifications is a crucial milestone, but it’s important to understand that this is not an immediate cut-off point. From this date onward, new notifications for mixtures meant exclusively for industrial use (as well as consumer and professional use) must comply with the harmonised format outlined in Annex VIII of the CLP Regulation. Additionally, the label must feature a UFI code (Unique Formula Identifier).

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) strongly advises companies to review their current notification status and verify the timelines for ensuring their data is formatted according to the harmonised requirements.

This message is especially significant for companies that have already submitted notifications based on national requirements. In these cases, there is an option to take advantage of the transition period, which ends on 1 January 2025. However, any changes to the product or mixture during this period will necessitate submission in the new format through the ECHA submission portal.

Companies benefiting from the transition period are encouraged to begin planning their notification updates and re-labelling processes now to avoid last-minute rushes or compliance risks.

For further details, we recommend contacting your national helpdesk or the ECHA Helpdesk for assistance.
