Upcoming Deadline for Poison Centre Notifications: Prepare for January 2025 Compliance
As the end of the transition period for poison centre notifications approaches, businesses placing hazardous mixtures on the EU market must act to ensure compliance. Starting 1 January 2025, all notifications must be submitted in the harmonised format as outlined in Annex VIII of the Classification, Labelling, and Packaging (CLP) Regulation.
What Does This Mean for Businesses?
Until now, companies have been able to place hazardous mixtures on the market according to non-harmonised national requirements. However, from 1 January 2025, any submissions following these old standards will no longer be accepted. To remain compliant with the CLP Regulation, businesses must ensure that their notifications are submitted in the new harmonised format.
Key Steps to Ensure Compliance:
Update Your Notifications: All notifications for hazardous mixtures must be resubmitted in the harmonised format under Annex VIII.
Include the Unique Formula Identifier (UFI): The UFI is mandatory and must be included on the label of your products.
Use the ECHA Submission Portal: ECHA recommends that companies use their dedicated Submission Portal to prepare and submit all relevant information.
What Happens If You Don’t Comply?
Failure to update your notifications in the harmonised format could result in your products being removed from the EU market. Companies should take action now to avoid disruptions.
